I want a shirt that says, "where's my peeps?" You know why? Because it's gramatically incorrect AND because I have chicks. Little bitty baby chickens that tweet and chirp. And poo. I'm fully aware that I'm mostly crazy but don't worry; their eventual home will be on Bobo's farm, not at our house in the might-as-well-be-the-city. But for now, they're my new babies.
A little nervous, we went into the store for 3, maybe four, chicks and when we got the starter kit they told us to pick out 6, that's right, 6 chicks. I said, "I only want 3. I'm new at this." The lady helping us said, "okay, I'll give you a voucher for the other three." I looked at Yay, and consistent with our history of taking on more than a sane person probably would at one time, we just got all six.
They're healthy, well-adjusted chicks (I think...but like I said, I'm new at this) who scramble and tweet furiously when the big hand drops from above into their rubbermaid/makeshift home. The only problem is, I'm having trouble coming up with good chick names. No really, I'm diverting to names like Ud, as in ugly duckling, for the one who is already going through her preteen awkward stage. That's right, I made that up. What of it?
So save the chicks and think of names. I've labeled them 1-6, so you can say, "I like 'Ud' for #4" and so on. I'll send a prize to those folks whose names I choose, and you're welcome to suggest as many names as you like. Just avoid naming them after people we know, or who might be reading this. Unless you think making a bird a namesake is appropriate/a compliment/pee in your pants funny.
And here's what they will look like when they grow up to be big birds who lay eggs, just in case the future look encourages your creativity. Well...one of those may be a rooster, (which Yay just informed me...no, really I don't know hardly anything) but you get the point. The coloring will be the same and I just don't want to go back into photoshop to change it.
Really cool prize coming the way of the winners. Please post your ideas in the comments by Thursday, April 1, at 5pm EST. I'll announce the winners by Friday morning. The chicks tweet their thanks. And also, love to my sister from another mother who somehow rides on the same wavelength as me. It's uncanny.
